Fostering Healthy Communities through Technology
Google's technology promotes health and social inclusion among Brazilian youth in the lead-up to the 2014 World Cup.
Project Vision: Joga+1 was conceived as a response to Brazil's preparation for the World Cup, with the aim of creating an equitable and engaging experience for Brazilian youth. This project was an opportunity to use technology to foster community spirit and health consciousness.
Strategic Implementation: Integrating Google+ and Google Maps, we developed a web application that allowed users to connect, organize, and discover local sports activities. This approach enabled anyone in Brazil to easily join or create pick-up games, bringing sports enthusiasts together.
Remarkable Outcomes: The impact of Joga+1 was immediate and profound. In just the first 10 days, over 3,000 sports activities were organized across more than 900 Brazilian cities. The initiative also garnered the involvement of major sports NGOs, amplifying its reach and benefits. The media response was overwhelming, with the campaign film achieving 3.9 million YouTube views in a week, highlighting the project's success and positive community influence.
Joga+1 represents a significant milestone in using digital platforms to transform urban spaces into arenas of active and healthy living.
